We will be holding both ceremonies at the top of Vail mountain, 10,000 feet above sea level. Additionally, the base of the mountain, where the Sangeet and Reception will be held, is 8,022 ft above sea level. Accordingly, we ask that you read and consider the following tips for avoiding altitude sickness.
(1) Drink Lots of water
Humidity is lower at higher altitudes. Sweat evaporates quickly and you may not realize how much water you are losing through exertion. The lower oxygen levels also make you breathe in and out faster and more deeply, so that you lose more water through respiration. Accordingly, you should drink as much water as you possibly can while you are in Colorado.
** And please do not think this means you will not have to wear sunscreen. You are actually more likely to get a sunburn in Vail (even in the Fall).
(2) Arrive early and visit denver
If you are arriving from a low-altitude location (like Houston or India) it may be prudent to plan to stay a night in Denver before going up to Vail. This way your body will be able to adjust to the altitude in phases.
(3) Limit Alcohol intake
While scientists are not clear that alcohol affects people more at altitude, it may exacerbate altitude sickness symptoms. Please be aware of this and listen to your body. Hopefully, if you do (1) and (2) this will be less of an issue.

The Arrabelle

Getting To Vail from Denver
Because a lot of our guests will be travelling from out of state, we have arranged discounted transportation on the Colorado Mountain Express. CME provides shuttle service from both Denver International Airport and downtown Denver at regularly scheduled intervals. We recommend taking the CME over renting a car because Vail is very easy to get around. In addition to being an incredibly walkable town, there is a free bus that runs regularly with numerous stops in all parts of town. Also, most hotels will have complimentary shuttle service should you need to go somewhere specific.
